Current Situation:

Yesterday's fire behavior saw warmer temperatures, cloudy skies, and increased winds, contributing to more smoke and activity than the previous day. Isolated areas of the fire showed smoldering and increased westward movement, with some group torching observed. Fire on the west flank continued to back down into a riparian, wetland area near Little Redfish Lake, burning through duff and cleaning up fuels naturally. Fire on the east flank saw little movement due to checking actions performed by ground personnel. Activity on the northwest corner showed the most activity with intermittent isolated torching and some group torching. The remainder of the north flank showed moderate fire activity with minimal movement.

Crews continued structure protection efforts and chipping operations, with an added focus on safety during these activities. In Division Z, crews prepped from the Livingston Mill south along the Big Boulder trail tying indirect line into natural features.  Helicopters supported operations by moderating fire intensities along the perimeter of the fire Crews were able to complete checking actions along the east flank of the fire to prevent further spread eastward.

Today, the structure group will continue preparations, while chipping operations continue. In Division Z, additional crews that had been working in Division K will be integrated into the north and west ends to support trail improvements and advance containment lines. Division A remains unstaffed but will continue to be monitored. Division K will also be monitored by air and ground resources with no anticipated movement.

Weather, Fuels, and Fire Behavior:

A new weather system is approaching, bringing a round of isolated showers and storms northward this evening. These storms may produce brief downpours and gusty winds. Expect more widespread showers and storms Monday evening through Tuesday as the system moves through, delivering beneficial rainfall and cooler temperatures.
