Current Situation: Yesterday brought clear skies & reduced fog yet resulted in minimal fire activity. Smoldering and creeping continue on uncontained portions of the fire. In the Livingston Mine Trailhead area, resources performed work on indirect fireline providing multiple options for containing the fire. Hotshot crews worked the edge of the fire in both Division K and Division Z to contain fire spread. Structure group resources continued structure triage assessments and chipping operations.

Similar conditions are anticipated today. Crews are compiling a list of needed supplies as part of ongoing structure triage in the East Fork of the Salmon. For further details of the structures, visit the FTP site: https://tinyurl.com/wkfwr5h8. Resources in Division Z will continue to capitalize on both direct and indirect opportunities in the Big Boulder Drainage while continuing to scout further up the Big Boulder trail. Crews in Division K will continue to work the perimeter of the fire to minimize spread potential towards structures in the East Fork Drainage.  Staffing in Division A will remain limited as resources focus on the north and east flanks but will continue to be monitored. Resources will continue structure triage and mapping values at risk in both Structure North and Structure South. Chipping operations occurred on Saturday and will continue on Sunday as needed, reducing brush and debris into mulch to minimize fire fuel. The fire is now 25% contained, thanks to resources dedicated efforts.

Weather, Fuels, and Fire Behavior: Saturday’s weather brought clear skies & reduced fog yet resulted in minimal fire activity. Warm and dry conditions will persist through Sunday and temperatures will rise by 3 to 5 degrees. Beginning Sunday night and continuing through Tuesday, widespread rain showers are expected, with rainfall totals ranging from half an inch to an inch by Tuesday evening. Cooler temperatures are forecast for Tuesday afternoon.
