A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Four Corners Fire area on Wednesday from noon to nine p.m. for gusty winds and low humidity; creating an increase in fire danger. A dry, cold front will move through, with ridgetop winds up to 30 mph and outflow winds from dry thunderstorms over 40 mph. Conditions are favorable for a high probability of ignition and rapid fire spread.
  

The incoming weather may increase fire behavior and will challenge firefighters to hold established containment lines, especially in the upper elevation subalpine fir forest types in areas like Willow Creek. Crews will be watching for and suppressing any spot fires resulting from increased winds. Continued interior creeping, smoldering and torching is expected.  
 

The Four Corners Fire is now 45% contained with the east flank holding, as crews continue work to mop up and strengthen fire lines above West Mountain Road. This includes eliminating ladder fuels by removing the lower limbs and cleaning up the ground at the tree’s base in order to reduce tree torching. Creating and maintaining an environment that is safe for the residents of French Creek and Campbell Creek to return home is of the highest priority.  

Firefighters will continue to make a direct attack in Willow Creek, working from east to west up the drainage in steep and rugged terrain. Helicopters have played a large role in supporting this work, dropping 130,000 gallons of water in the last 48 hours. A team of eight helicopters will continue this cooperative effort today as long as weather permits.  
 

Weather: A Red Flag Warning heralds an incoming cold front, with low humidity and gusty winds. Temperatures will drop into the 70’s on Thursday, with slightly higher humidity and winds shifting to the northwest.  
 

Fire Restrictions: There are currently no fire restrictions in the area, but residents and visitors are encouraged to exercise extreme caution if building campfires. Fire restrictions are determined by interagency guidelines including a “persistence of fire danger” in terms of fuel moisture levels and long term weather forecasts. Closure Information:  Access to hunting unit 32 A near the Fawn Creek area is very limited as the main route in from the west is in the closure area. A security guard is posted at the intersection of Cabarton and Snowbank Road and will not allow individuals through.
