Location: 5.5 miles west of Nordman, ID in Pend Oreille County, WA Size: 7 acres Personnel: 10 Containment: 0% Incident Commander: ICT4 Hirst, ICT4(trainee) Zurfluh Current Status: Started by lightning and initially detected on the evening of July 14th, the Diamond Watch Fire has now exceeded initial attack and smoke is likely visible from the Priest Lake area. The fire is located 5.5 miles due west of Nordman, ID, and has burned approximately 7 acres on the northeast side of Diamond Peak in Pend Oreille County, WA. Firefighters are currently working to assess access and safety zones for suppression actions. There are no closures or evacuations associated with this fire at this time, but please be aware of fire traffic on Forest Service Road 1362 and FSR 308. Additional information will be posted to InciWeb and significant updates will also be published by news release. Objectives: Provide for the protection of firefighter and public safety by implementing a course of action that achieves incident objectives while minimizing firefighter exposure, mitigating public safety issues, and is based on sound risk management principles. This is a suppression fire with a confine strategy. Suppression activities will occur when they have the greatest probability of success while limiting exposure to firefighting resources. Closures & Evacuations: There are NO closures or evacuations currently in place. However, when living in fire prone areas it is recommended that all area residents have an evacuation plan in place including having all important documents, pictures, prescriptions, and pets gathered up and easily transportable.
