Forest Closure Order for the Alexander Mountain Fire 07-31-2024

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (July 31, 2024) – The Roosevelt National Forest has issued a closure order for the area near the Alexander Mountain Fire. This closure is to protect public and firefighter health and safety. 

The area included within the closure order encompasses National Forest System lands starting at Highway 34, approximately 8.5 miles west of Loveland. Please see the closure map for details. The following National Forest System roads are closed: 295.0 (Franz), 128.0 (Cedar Park), 153.D (Storm Mountain Branch D), and 348.0 (Spruce Mountain Loop). Trails that are closed include the Round Mountain Trail (969) and Round Mountain Nature Trail (969.1).

Larimer County Sheriff's Office will continue to operate the Joint Information Center and provide information about evacuation notices, animal evacuations and road closures. The cause of the Alexander Mountain Fire is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the cause and origin of the Alexander Mountain fire is asked to call the Forest Service Law Enforcement Tip Line at (303) 275-5266.
