Tahoe National Forest Sierraville Ranger District plans to pileburn up to 45 acres in Carmen Valley, south of Beckwourth Peak. Ignition dates are planned for Jan. 16 and may extend through Jan. 19, 2024. Smoke will be visible from the Sierra Valley and possibly the community of Portola. Smoke will likely settle in valleys affecting local communities near burn unit overnight.
