CURRENT SITUATION
Overnight, the Bridge Fire displayed moderate fire behavior under favorable conditions due to decreased winds and elevated humidity levels. Firefighters were able to continue the work done by day crews while prioritizing structure protection by utilizing ground and air support. Forecasted weather will assist firefighters in the fight today. Crews continued to be engaged with structure defense in Wrightwood, Piñon Hills, and Mt. Baldy communities.
Yesterday, the most active fire behavior was on the north side, but more favorable weather conditions aided firefighters in structure defense and protection of the Piñon Hills community. Today, crews will continue that work and are constructing dozer lines in the Table Mountain area while strengthening containment lines and putting out hotspots within the fire’s perimeter around the Wrightwood community.
On the east side, firefighters successfully held the fire west of Mt. Baldy Road, prioritizing structure defense in the Mt. Baldy Village, and will continue that progress today. Containment lines on the south side were established by several resources, including hand crews, and dozers. Retardant drops have been successful in aiding crews in protection of the foothill communities. Residents will see that work increase today. However, the northwest side of the fire presents a unique challenge due to its topography and steep terrain, making it difficult to access by ground crews. The southwest side of the fire is holding, and crews are mopping up and securing containment lines.
