On the afternoon of July 17, 2024, a lightning storm ignited at least two fires in Great Basin National Park. Firefighting resources are responding to assess the fires.
- Mill Creek Fire: 0.1 acre, 100% contained. This fire was contained and controlled on the morning of July 18.
- Pyramid Peak Fire: 0.1 acre, 0% contained. A helicopter will conduct aerial reconnaissance and size up the fire on July 18.
- Firefighters investigated a report of a fire near the junction of the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive and the park Entrance Road, and found no active fire.
Additional resources have been ordered and are en route.
