Bull Complex Update for Tuesday, September 28, 2021

 RIPPLEBROOK, Ore. – Yesterday, rain accumulation over the fire area reached an inch, significantly reducing fire activity. Firefighters continued working toward suppression repair goals such as dozer and hand line repair.  Suppression repair, collection of equipment, and monitoring along fire lines will continue.

Slow-moving, light rain events provide drought-stressed trees and plants relief without significant risk of erosion in burned areas.  Increased humidity and continued moisture are expected to limit fire progression in dry areas surrounding the Bull Complex.

As of 1:00 pm yesterday, Marion County Sheriff’s Office lifted the Level One evacuation warning for the Breitenbush Hot Springs Resort. Fire closures remain in effect to keep firefighters, those implementing fire recovery efforts from last year’s fires, and the public safe. Check ahead when planning a trip in Marion and Clackamas Counties to ensure your destination and roadways that provide access to them are open to public access. 

Weather: Rain will continue this morning, tapering off to showers in the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees, with a southwest wind of around 10 mph. Rain will begin again this afternoon and fall through Wednesday morning. Temperatures tonight may drop to 35 degrees, bringing a chance of frost. Rainfall totals from yesterday and today should total up to 2 inches. Dry weather will begin moving into the area tomorrow and last through Saturday.

Evacuations:  There are currently no evacuations in effect for Bull Complex. Residents should always monitor local emergency services websites and local media, and be prepared to make an action plan should the need arise.

Closures:  For the safety of wildland firefighters and the public, National Forests have enacted area closures that prevent the public from being upon National Forest System lands in the vicinity of the Bull Complex. All Forest lands that are south and west of Forest Road 46, and east of the Riverside Fire perimeter are closed. The entire length of Forest Road 46 is closed.
