Matthew Robert Miller was taken, along with Air Attack Jeff Piechura, tragically on Saturday July 10th  2021 while performing an air attack mission near Wikieup, Arizona. Matt was a very accomplished pilot, instructor, and fire pilot. He was passionate in his main role as chief flight instructor teaching thousands to fly aircraft over the past 20 plus years. He held a master level with the FAA wings program and was once a designated FAA examiner certifying hundreds of new pilots.

Matt was a check airman as well as safety officer for the company's 135 program. He taught many pilots how to fly fire missions for the USFS and BLM as well as flying those missions himself for more than twenty years. Matt's experience in the Beechcraft King Air includes over 2400 hours mostly over fires in the western United States or anywhere duty called. Prior to flying the King Air Matt flew hundreds of hours in the Beechcraft Baron on fire duty.

Matts experience in all aircraft includes over 10,500 hours with over 7500 as a certified flight instructor. He was always happy and willing to teach either a student looking to obtain a license for the first time or seasoned pilots wanting a career flying contracted aircraft in the air attack profile.

Matt loved aviation and all aspects of flying. He is a huge loss to  the aviation community as well as our staff, so at this time we ask for privacy for his family to mourn. The N.T.S.B., F.A.A. and B.L.M are investigating the accident. We will have information when given by the agencies in charge.
