Smoke Outlook for 7/07 - 7/08

Shasta-Trinity Area Salt Fire

Issued at: 2021-07-07 08:01 PDT

Fire

The fire is currently 12,546 acres and 25 percent contained. Fire activity is significantly reduced compared to past days. Firefighters continue to make great progress with only interior activity/smokes at times.

Smoke

Any lingering smoke trapped in the valleys will lift between 900 AM and 1100 AM. If interior pockets of the fire become active, light to moderate smoke is possible in close proximity to the fire. Smoke will generally push to the north and northeast during the afternoon. Tonight into Thursday, smoke will settle into the valleys with light smoke impacts possible for the communities along the Interstate 5 Corridor from Shasta Lake to Dunsmuir. Smoke from other wildfires burning across northern California and portions of Oregon could move into the region with light impacts. Any smoke will lift between 900 AM and 1100 AM Thursday. Strong high pressure building across the west may help push smoke from other wildfires more east to even southeast. This could result in some light to moderate smoke impacts.
