Incident Description | March 28, 2025, East Fork Wildfire (Jemez District): Fire personnel responded to a report of smoke visible from upper Highway 4 and found a lightning strike had ignited surface fuels near Trail 137 in the Old Cajete burned area. Suppression began immediately and the fire was contained at 1 acre on March 29. Mop up continued March 30-31 to secure the line and open smoldering stump holes. Significant Events | Smoke was reported by a member of the public and Engine E631 responded to find a lightning strike on the ridge top. Flames were creeping inside the previously burned area, burning heavy dead and down fuels. Additional resources responded including La Cueva Volunteer Fire Department. Fire was contained. |
