Significant Events

Fire activity was moderate today with flame lengths of 4-5 feet. When terrain and fuels aligned, the fire spread uphill with some group tree torching.

Outlook
Planned Actions

Fire engines are in place at the north end of the lake to offer protection for Redfish Lodge and other structures.  Hot shot crews are being positioned to assess where they can engage the fire directly by digging hand line and utilizing natural features such as rock screes to begin containing the fire perimeter. Incident managers note that ground crews will be exercising extreme caution because of the significant hazard posed by dead and diseased trees in the area.

Projected Incident Activity

Fire is anticipated to move east, towards Redflish Lake with continued short range spotting. Fire movement is also anticipated in a northerly direction towards Redflish Lake Recreation Complex. There is potential for increased activity in the event of winds flowing outward from thunderstorms.

Current Weather
Weather Concerns

Monsoonal moisture will remain over the region into Monday bringing a continued slight chance of thunderstorms. Little in the way of precipitation is expected. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected the beginning of the week before the upper ridge begins to amplify back over the Great Basin region.

Hot and dry conditions prevail mid to late week with a slight uptick in winds Wednesday and Thursday.
