The Farrow Fire is located in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. This lightning caused fire is at 396 acres and is under a Point Protection strategy, while being allowed to play, as nearly as possible, its natural ecological role within the Wilderness.
Recent spread of this fire has been to the south and southeast as it made its way up Farrow Mountain. It is located approximately 5 1/2 miles southeast of Cold Meadows Guard Station but is not expected to threaten the guard station.
This fire was detected on August 5 following a thunderstorm that crossed the east side of the Payette National Forest.
