Fire managers from the Colorado River District are conducting prescribed burning in the Hualapai Mountains on Getz Peak today and plan to continue through the weekend, as weather and fuel conditions allow. Firefighters are burning piles of vegetation cut in an effort to reduce the threat and spread of wildfires and improve forest health. Today the goal is 3 acres and are planning for similar activities tomorrow. Area residents and visitors may see some light smoke during burn operations. Access to the burn areas may be temporarily restricted for public safety.
