Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Wildcat Updated News Release  

 Elko, Nev. July. 18, 2022 – Wildcat Fire Status Update – The fire size remains at 21,440 acres and is 55% contained. Yesterday the fire was wind tested and held within the containment lines. The crews working are from multiple agencies and have been doing a wonderful job despite working in rugged conditions with hot and windy weather.
Fire behavior characteristics observed were minimal with some creeping and smoldering. There was little to no visible smoke on the fire today. The fire received significant winds today. Despite these weather conditions, the fire did not burn outside of the perimeter from Saturday.
No structures have been damaged and no injuries have been reported at this time. Crews are continuing mop up interior heat and have begun suppression repair in the interior of the fire. Continued hot and dry conditions with erratic and gusty winds remain a concern for the Incident Management Team. 
There are currently 312 personnel on the incident staffing - 9 Crews, 11 Engines, 5 Dozers, 2 Water Tenders, 5 Helicopters a few local VFD personnel assisting.
