 SANTA FE, NM – Sept. 1, 2022 – The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) rescinded the revised closure order for the Cerro Pelado burned area on the Jemez Ranger District today at 6 a.m. However, the Jemez National Recreation Area flood risk closure, signed on June 24, 2022, remains in effect.

                                Daily Update Wednesday, June 1, 2022 Today will be the final update from Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Three TEAM TRANSITIONRocky Mountain Incident Management Team Three will be transitioning management of the Cerro Pelado Fire to the Northern New Mexico Incident Management Team 3, a Type 3 team, today at 6pm.  
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR Although the red flag warning over the fire area has been removed, increased temperatures and low humidity in the range of 9 to 13 percent will keep fire risks high.  FIRE OPERATIONS  Crews will continue to patrol the perimeter of the fire on the northwest side, including the Peralta Canyon area keeping an eye for any heat or smoke in those areas.  There is currently no threat to any structures around the fire. 
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR A red flag warning remains over the fire area due to high winds and relative humidity in the single digits. With the high winds forecast today, expect to see increased smoke within the fire perimeter. FIRE OPERATIONS Crews will continue to patrol the perimeter of the fire on the northwest side, including the Peralta Canyon area, and continue to mop up deep into the interior of the fire perimeter when it’s safe to do so.
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR Although temperatures will be cooler today, a red flag warning remains over the fire area due to winds and relative humidity remaining in the single digits. Isolated fire activity within the perimeter increased yesterday but remained with the fire and all lines held.  Expect to see smoke from the interior as winds continue.FIRE OPERATIONS  
 WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR Temperatures will continue to increase over the fire area with relative humidity remaining in the single digits. Fire activity has been minimal along the perimeter. The fire has not spread for several days, even under adverse weather conditions.FIRE OPERATIONS
