Area Closure

PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b) the following is prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads, and trails on the Spotted Bear and Hungry Horse Ranger Districts, Flathead National Forest described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A.

1.It is prohibited to go into the area, including to be upon any road or trail in the area,closed for the protection of: Public health or safety. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(e).

2.It is prohibited to be on the trails listed in the order. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).

EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1.Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads,Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting themfrom this Order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officerthat a permit is not required under 36 C.F.R. § 251.50(e)(1) or (2).

2.Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue orfirefighting resource in the performance of an official duty.

DESCRIBED AREA and TRAILS
Area The northern boundary of the closure area starts from the point where Swan Lake District Boundary meets the Jewel Basin Hiking Area boundary in section 28 T27N R18W and runs east along the Jewel Basin boundary to where it meets National Forest System (NFS) Trail #64.

The closure boundary then continues east along NFS Trail #64, NFS Road 895F, NFS Road 895G, across Hungry Horse Reservoir due east from the end of 895G to Hungry Horse/Spotted Bear District boundary. NFS Trail #64 and NFS Road 895F are not part of the closure and remain open.

The northern boundary of the closure area continues along the district boundary to Prospector Mountain and the Great Bear Wilderness boundary in section 9 T27N R16W. The waters of Hungry Horse Reservoir south of this boundary are included in the order.
