The Lime Complex consists of two staffed fires and sixteen unstaffed fires. The total size of the combined fires is 785,539 acres, and there are 158 resources assigned to the complex, an area covering 21 million acres. Each of these fires was caused by lightning. All unstaffed fires are monitored for growth and potential threats to identified values.
Highlights: Since the start of the Lime Complex Fire, the logistics section has shipped 2,900 gallons of fuel; 373 miles of hose; 254 mark 3 pumps; and 37,800 pounds to sites around the complex. Aircraft are scheduled to fly a rappel crew out to a couple sites for assessments today, along with additional supplies. Fire activity should be limited to smoldering in unburned interior fuels and isolated heat along fire perimeters, with increased smoldering and creeping as the area warms and dries.
Weather: Yesterday morning began cloudy across the complex, with dense fog and/or rain in some areas, but the weather cleared up and dried out throughout the day. Winds remained gusty in the Iliamna region but light in the vicinity of Lime Village. Today should be warmer across the complex with lower relative humidity values. There is a chance of increased instability in the Lime area, with a small potential for rain and thunderstorms developing later in the day. Iliamna is not forecast to receive any precipitation.
Door Mountain Fire (#244) – 84,434 acres. Resources in the North Point Protection Group will continue to mop up around Lime Village. The mop-up standard for the burn-out around Lime is 100%. Galice and Garden Valley modules will continue with allotment protection measures near Trout and Tundra Lakes.
Pike Creek (#239)/Koktuli River (#240) – 271,861 combined acres. Crews have relocated to a camp on the Mulchatna River that will provide better access to the remaining work. The Grand Ronde rappel module will be inserted into the fire today to assist with the remaining allotment missions on the Koktuli River.
The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) remains in place over the southern portion of the planning area near Lake Iliamna. Aerial water drops and logistical air support remain active in this area when smoke and weather allow for safe flying. Fire Boss planes are working out of Lake Iliamna, as well as helicopters and other aircraft providing support to firefighting resources on the ground. Please avoid this airspace for public and firefighter safety. Remember – the fire area is a no-fly zone for private drones – if you fly we can’t.
