The Muddy Moose Prescribed Burn Project is complete for the spring. This will be the last update on Muddy Moose Project.
The overall project area will contain approximately 243 acres of logging slash burning that will reduce hazardous fuel accumulations in areas of designated Rural Wildland Urban Interface near Elk City, ID. Further objectives for this project include:
- reducing fuels created from logging operations to create new planting sites for new trees post-harvest
- reduce the potential risk and intensity of catastrophic wildfire
- increase the success of wildfire suppression strategies and tactics, while providing for firefighter safety
- improving potential safety zones and escape routes for firefighters to further protect firefighter health and well-being.
